New Year's Eve

OK, so this is my first foray into blogging.  I hope to update most every day.  To introduce myself, my name is Kristen Wilson.  I love my first name, but always wanted to be known as Kristy.  Since my family was so used to calling me Kristen it seemed a natural transition to name my craft business Kristy's Kreations.  I have been married to my husband for 20 years and we have a son, James, who is 17 and a daughter, Kaitlyn, who is 15.   It seems crazy to me that I have been married that long and have children that old.  I do feel that age is just a number and my mental number is much, much younger than my actual age.  I have a number of family and friends that are the loves of my life.  I hope to introduce and spotlight them on this blog.  I love all things creative and just don't feel the same unless I am able to create every day. I work full time at a department store in Florida named Bealls.  I have worked there for 5 months and it is a paycheck but my first love will always be running a craft business.  I have been  wracking my brain for ways to make it a profitable full time business, but it is just out of my reach.  I work every day coming up with new ideas and marketing ideas.  I may go back to doing craft shows as I have heard that the business is picking up.  I also have a site on etsy that you should check out.   It is www.kristykreations.etsy.com.  Let me know what you think.  My creative talents do not include writing, so I am sorry if this blog is less than exciting.  I am going to profile one of my family or friends every week and tell you a little bit  about them and also profile one of my products.  I am also going to try to update every day and let you know of any new items I am working on.

I am still trying to finish up with some projects from Christmas.  I finally worked out most of the bugs from my machine embroidery sewing machine and would love to get into that more.  I also got a cricut machine and won an eBay auction for the cupcake wrappers cartridge.  So hopefully I can make some of those and put them up on my etsy site.  OK, so here goes my first family/friend spotlight.

Eleanor Saul   born February 7.

My mother, Eleanor, is my best friend.  She has helped me, guided me and loved me more than anyone I know.  She has had a lot of challenges in her life especially now.  She suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and has problems with walking and getting around.  She tries her best but with alot of people with illnesses depression becomes a major issue. She is working through it and I know she will come out of the other side stronger.  Her and my father has come to live with my husband, kids and I and even though this is not an ideal situation for her and my father, it has become the best decision that was made.  It has been a source of joy and immense help to have them here and she loves spending  time with her grandchildren.  On January 11, 2010 she had a hysterectomy and unfortunately due to her diabetes, her wound never closed and she was on a wound vac for 4 months.  This would have brought another woman to her knees, but she persevered and has made a full recovery and is cancer free.  She is of Portuguese descent and is very proud of her heritage.  I love her more than she knows and I cannot envision my life without her.  On January 13th of this year she will have cataract surgery and I know she is nervous but again, I know she will handle that with the strength she has shown with everything else.

Ok, so now here goes with my product spotlight.  Today I am spotlighting my cheesecakes.

This is my caramel walnut chocolate cheesecake.  I make all my cheesecakes with fresh ingredients and they are absolutely decadent.  This has a mirror of caramel on top with walnuts sprinkled around.  It has a chocolate sponge cake on the bottom and the chocolate cheesecake.  I have many,  many flavors but as I am a chocoholic, I chose this one to make this time.  I do also sell them and if you are interested and live close to me, let me know and we can make arrangements.
